Welcome to the School of Languages
The School of Languages is a specialist government school. Since 1986 the school has been teaching languages to a growing number of students from both government and non-government schools.
Thousands of students from over 200 schools and colleges across South Australia have benefited from the opportunity to study a language of their choice, and to have it formally recognised as a part of their secondary education.
Classes are held after hours in more than 25 teaching centres around the metropolitan area. For more details please refer to the timetables.
The School of Languages has expanded the R-7 school holidays Languages Alive! Program. Explore new languages and cultures through a range of interactive learning experiences offered in both metropolitan and country venues over the 2019 April schools holidays. A key aim of all activities will be to provide participants language learning opportunities in a range of languages, including Japanese, Indonesian, French, Italian and Chinese.
As part of the government’s Languages in Schools initiative, the School of Languages has developed an across sector program called Let’s Talk: Holiday Intensives for students enrolled in a Stage 1 or Stage 2 Continuers pathways in Italian or Japanese. The program will take place at the School of Languages (255, Torrens Road, West Croydon) on 18 April 2019 and 24 April 2019, from 10.00am-3.00pm. Its central focus is to improve the oral use of the target language through engaging and highly interactive language/cultural experiences.
Ms Marija Zivic, Political Reporter for SBS was our Guest Speaker at the Celebration of Achievement at the end of 2018.
Marija is an inspiring advocate for languages, don’t you agree?
